birdie sling

I finally made an Amy Butler Birdie Sling. I thought the pattern was pretty easy to follow and the result is really cute! I love how sturdy it is - I don't feel worried about ripping out the bottom.

The only problem I have is that it feels a little bigger than I anticipated, even though I've seen them all over the place.

I got the fabric from Hobby Lobby and I love the colors.

I added more pockets to the inside. You can never have too many pockets!

Planning to sew all of this up before the end of the month. Wish me luck!

a bit about me

Growing up, my frustrated mom believed I would never be domestically inclined. She would try to teach me to cook, to sew... and yet, I didn't pay that much attention. I was too busy dreaming about being Martha Stewart's protege and spending hours paging through her magazines.

Little did I know, I had all I needed right in front of me. My mom, who was a better teacher for me than Martha Stewart ever could have been!

Now that I'm a real-life grownup and have a husband and child (and hopefully soon a house of our own), every time my parents visit me or I visit them - and I cook something - they tell me something like "Julie, you're so.... domestic! We never thought we'd see the day!"

So here's a place for me to share my ever-growing repertoire of domesticity.
